Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer Review

The Milk Makeup Hydro Primer Is Worth It, But Here’s Why

Unlike other primers I’ve used in the past, this one did not dry my skin or cause oil on my T-Zone.

Honey, you know how importante that is!

My T-Zone is the only place I produce oil on my face, and normally that happens within 40 minutes. (ew no) However with this primer, I was able to wear my makeup for an hour without touch-up. (THANK YOU JESUS)

Take note though, everyone has a unique skin type and it varies with age. My forehead, cheeks, and rest of my body is naturally quite dry. So I was quite surprised to see that this primer didn’t dry out my skin! This primer did not break me out either, which is always a positive. I wore this under my foundation 3 times before this review to make sure it was actually working or not. (If you’re curious as to what type of foundation I used, it was matte) No faulty reviewing here!

The use of high-quality ingredients is also a big deal for me. If it isn’t for you, I feel sorry for the environment and your face in 20 years. (Okurrrrr)

The price is reasonable too compared to the other primers (like my favorite one which is $60. Woosh!).

When you apply it, the texture is semi-sticky. Most primers have a creamy texture, but this one is a gel.

It has a slight scent, which is very earthy. Some may not like that, I personally didn’t have a problem with it.

Not hydrating, but not drying either. It tends to dissipate within a matter of minutes.

This was quite possibly one of the hardest reviews to write. I have tried so many different primers, but the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip primer is by far the most unique of them all. Let’s start off with the consistency first: it’s a gel, not a cream. Most primers are some form of a cream or even a spray, but this gel stands out above the rest. It left me with confusion, but with a smile. A smile of confusion. It worked better than expected, left my face acne-free, non-greasy, the stickiness eventually left, and my makeup felt lightweight. While it didn’t moisturize areas that I needed, it didn’t dry me out either. Despite its name, “Hydro Grip Primer”, it’s more of a water based consistency but like I said earlier, not moisturizing (but not drying). I would highly recommend to apply moisturizer BEFORE the primer, and even add your favorite oil (I use Maracuja Oil) for added moisture. I like this, in fact this was so weirdly enjoyable I might purchase this once my complimentary one runs out. I definitely recommend buying this, but if you’re looking for extra moisture, either take the extra time to prep, or opt for a cream counterpart. Otherwise, I actually enjoyed this primer which made me wonder, “Is this the new, breakthrough primer of our generation?” I know it sounds crazy, but I’m not lying. This primer is oddly amazing, and even with its cons, I still love it. I’m looking forward to more products or gel primers in Milk Makeup’s future, and that’s a fact.
